Our Trip to Tobermory!!!!!

The car is so messy!!🀣

When I woke up on Saturday, July 27th I think, I was so so so excited!!! We were going to Tobermory!!! Whooo!! I barely see my cousins and Family trips are only once a year in the summer!!! We were going to Tobermory, about a 3 hour and 30 minute drive from Mississauga. It wasn't that boring though because we played cards and watched movies like Mulan. When we got there I was really happy and was very surprised because it was super windy.

We arrived in Tobermory at around 5:00 pm and my cousins and grandparents were coming at 6:00. I already wrote a blog about my cousins so you might know a bit about them. When they arrived we were so happy! We didn't do much on Saturday, but it was a    very      eventful night. We had a nice dinner and was just about to shower when there was a blackout everywhere in Tobermory. The blackout lasted till 1:00 am!!

This was our room. There's another bunk bed on the right.

Everyone turing on their flashlights during the blackout

We slept earlier than we usually did since there was nothing to do during to blackout. My grandpa had a mechanically powered flashlight so he let me use it. πŸ”¦πŸ”¦ It was actually kind of fun with no power except for the part where there was no running water. When we went to sleep Anne cried 3 times in the night so it was preeetty hard to sleep...πŸ’€πŸ˜΄πŸ’€πŸ˜΄.

Sunday:

In the morning we woke up at around 8:30 since we had Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas at 11:00. The church was in Wiarton. The church was a pretty small church and it was beautiful. Next we went to Green Door cafe for lunch. I got a kids meal hamburger with fries and that was super big for me!!! I thought for a second that my meal was someone elses.

If you ever go to Wiarton, maybe take a look at Green Door cafe because their food is deelish!!πŸ” After Green Door we went to Bruce Caves. We had to hike there in order to see the caves. It was probably a 2 kilometer walk to the Bruce Caves. In the caves there was a small crack where you could slide in and go through a tunnel to the forest. Here are some pics:

After a long walk back to the car, we wanted to go to the beach. At first, I didn't but my brother and cousins pesuaded me to go. When we got there, we found out that parking was $12 per car!!!!!!!! We drove 2 cars so it would be 24 bucks!!! We ended up not going to the beach...Sigh.

On Monday we didn't go anywhere because it was raining really hard. My Bak Fu and Bak Leung(uncle and aunt) had to go back to their home because they had a concert. We spent most of the day watching tv or playing Minecraft.

On Tuesday we went to Lion's Head to hike. My aunt and uncle were driving back from London so they missed the hike. My dad said it would only take about 3 hours but instead it took 5!! I'll tell you why it took that long.

We started off really good, having lots of fun and dancing in the forest until the mosquitos started biting. The sight at the cliff was amazing though. Here are pictures of the Lion's head view.

Another beautiful view

After seeing the nice views we got lost in the trails!! It was really hot and we went the wrong way!! We went in a single file line. Weirdly, the odd numbers in the line got bitten by mosquitoes. The odd numbers were me, Athan, and Nick. After probably an hour or two we finally got back to the parking lot!! We were really tired so when we got back home we all had a freeeeeeeezie!!! Our aunt and uncle also made dinner for us so the house smelled like hambugers...We had cup noodle soup too!! The boys had the spicy one and the girls had the normal one. The boys had a challenge who could eat the fastest and Athan won because he started first. πŸ†πŸ†We all had a really good nights sleep and we were really excited for tomorrow because we were going camping!!!!!

Our boat and us

So, on Wednesday, as I said, we went camping!!!! We didn't go camping in Tobermory though. We went camping on Flowerpot Island!!! I know, I know, what island is called Flowerpot Island??? You'll see if you keep on reading!!

Flowerpot Island is really unique. There are 2 weirdly shaped rocks that look kind of like flowerpots. You can see in the pictures later and comment if you think they look like flowerpots or not.

So, since 7 of us were camping, we went on a different boat than my mom and the other people that weren't camping. Their boat went first because our boat was faster than theirs. The ride to the island was really windy and we saw 2 shipwrecks, one that burnt down and one that was still there. Here is a picture:

Shipwreck

After seeing the shipwrecks we continued on the boat all the was to Flowerpot Island. When we got there the rest of the family was already there. We had sandwiches for lunch and then went to our campsite. Our tent was pretty big.
Me and Athan setting up the tent
After we set up our tent and got our stuff ready, we headed to see the Flowerpots. The Flowerpots were amazing!!!!!!!!! The bigger one had a LOT of seagulls on the top. We took a lot of pictures and even dipped our feet in the cold water!!

Flowerpot. Do you think it looks like one??

After the Flowerpots we went to the lighthouse. It was really, really old so we couldn't go inside. We stopped by at a museum while we walked back to the flowerpots and my grandma bought us chocolats to eat!! Yum🍫🍫!!!

So after we walked all the way back we went to the deck and swam (more like died) in the freezing water. It was super cold and I had goosebumps everywhere!!!!!!!!
Us before jumping in the water.

The boys went first. They said the water was so warm so we decided to go in too. It turned out that the water was freezing!!! I went in for about 2 minutes but then I couldn't bear the coldnessπŸ₯ΆπŸ₯Ά. Brrr... So after that the people that weren't camping went back on their boat all the way home while we had a some cup noodle soup, veggie lasagna, and rice. Bak Fu brought a nice portable stove, but he didn't bring matches!! Fortunately, some nice French people from the other campsite had some and gave it to us. We were very lucky because without those matches we couldn't have dinner!! After dinner we played Spot It! and Jessie won the first round. It was my first time playing so I didn't get a lot of them. After Spot It! it was reeaally early so we decided to go hiking. Bak Fu gave us a flashlight to put on our heads and it was really cool. The sunset was even cooler when we got to the end of the hike! It was so beautiful!!!! When we started hiking back it was 8:30 so it started getting really dark. We turned on our flashlights and walked all the way back singing Down By The Bay. When we finally got back we brushed our teeth and went in the tent to sleep. It didn't take that long to sleep, but at around 5 in the morning it got really really cold. I wasn't wearing socks so I went to get them but I woke everyone up... So we got everything we needed and went back to sleep until maybe 8:30 in the morning.  Nick and Ben decided to jump into the freezing water again (I don't know why they would do that). Here are some cool pics of them:

Soon we had to go back home. We went on a blue boat which went super fast:

Goodbye Flowerpot Island!!
When we got home we planned to go to the beach!! This is what we were looking forward to since Monday!! So we changed into our swim suits and got ready to swim in the water!! You might have thought the water was really cold because of all my other expiriences with water were either the water was freezing or really cold. Not for Singing Sands beach. The water was so warm, but the bad thing was that there was barely any sand to play in. This is what it looked like:

That was all the sand

We still had lots of fun!! We went in till it was up to our chests and that was super far since the water had covered up so much sand. After we swam we just chilled on the beach!!

Audrey in front of the beach
It was really nice outside and Amelia kept wanting to drink gatorade!!!🀣🀣

The next day we were going to a grotto!! We were going very carefully down the cliff to the grotto. When we got there the water was super super cold..πŸ₯ΆπŸ₯ΆπŸ₯Ά only my mom and Nick swam in there! I don't know how they did it. We watched them jump into the water and it was actually pretty funny. And then, out of nowhere, my dad and Bak Fu were swimming into the grotto!! They were at the beach but then they decided to swim from there all the way here!!! My daddy didn't let my mom bring her phone because he was scared she would drop it so I don't have any pictures of us inside the grotto..😒. But here are some pics from outside the grotto:
The grotto looking from the back

After we got back we had dinner and went outside to the camfire to roast marshmallows!!!!!!! Yummy! First we got some wood and set it up like this:

Setting up the wood

After we set up the wood, Bak Fu lit it and Nick, Ben, Jess and I waved newspapers so the fire could grow. This is what it looke like:

Anne plugging her nose from the smell

Fire after lighting it
So after lighting it, Bak Leung got a bag of marshmallows for us!!! We roasted them and they were sooooooooo good. Even Amelia tried it!!

When we finished the marshmallows we had a piggyback contest!! Sadly me and HH lost, but when I was with Jessie I won!! Yay! It was really fun! πŸ·πŸ”™ Haha. We were sad though because it was the last day at Tobermory and tomorrow we would have to leave...😒😒πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯😭😭We took a really nice shower, played some Minecraft, and then went to sleep. πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ˜΄πŸ˜΄

We woke up and packed all our bags and then for lunch, we went to McDonalds together. I had a really good burger and we all had a really good time there. When we said goodbye it was really sad because we don't see each other often.

Me and Nick
It took about 2 more hours to get back home so it was really tiring. We watched a movie, slept a little and then we were finally home!! Even though I didn't want to leave Tobermory I still missed home. Well, I hope I see my cousins soon!!

Sorry guys it took so long to write this blog. I'll write another time!!
